Congratulations, you did it! You created the best damned marketing strategy possible and your Christmas has become a sales success story. Don’t put your feet up just yet though. Not when there's so much more money to make before the New Year.

For those of you who don’t know about the wonders of Boxing Day, it’s on the 26th of December. It began (roughly) in the 17th century and was the time of year when servants and errand-boys were given a ‘Christmas Box’ for their work.

Since then, Boxing Day has become a day of discounts across most Western countries. Retailers use this time to clear excess Christmas stock. With many potential customers taking time off work, this is a prime shopping time for both online and High Street retailers before the year is out.

You might think people aren’t shopping after Christmas, but Boxing Day sales are huge. So, there’s no reason you can’t keep your sales going past Christmas. We’re not going to lie to you, Boxing Day isn’t the best sales day of the year. Black Friday still reigns supreme at £1.1 billion in online sales alone.

However, it’s becoming a much better day for eCommerce sales. In 2015, online sales for Boxing Day had increased by 22% from the previous year. Boxing Day growth is expected to continue this year with online sales predicted to jump 15% from £856 million to £984 million in the UK alone.

With potential profits like this, why wait until the new year to start selling again?

How you do it

Making use of Boxing Day and 'twixmas' (the week between Christmas Day and New Year's Day) can be easier than you think. You should already have an audience, either from your Christmas Sales or before. (Although it wouldn’t be a bad idea to give your audience a once-over. Since there’s more focus on treating yourself rather than buying someone else a gift.)

All you need to do is:

Find a design to use (new or old)

  • Either create a new design for Boxing Day, or use an old one which people might have missed their chance to purchase. You can see which designs did best from your dashboard.

Create a discount for that day only

Re-target your audience with your new deals

  • A little Christmas spirit can work wonders for your sales. Create adverts that show off your products using an audience that has shown interest in your products already. 

Relax in your money-filled mansion

  • This might be an exaggeration, but it’s good to have goals.

People are already looking out for deals, you just need to ensure they see your deals. There’s likely to be a lot of competition for adverts on Boxing Day so you might want to start designing and testing your adverts now while you can.
