Be Smart About Your 2017 Goals
Dec 27, 2016 - GROWTH

You can’t cross the sea just by staring at the water. So when you enter the New Year filled with ambition, don’t just stare at the water, set yourself some goals.

You can become the entrepreneur you’ve always dreamed of. All you need to do to is #MakeItHappen!

We’ve created a checklist of goals for you to follow in the new year. With this list, 2017 will be the ‘Year of the Entrepreneur’ as your business becomes a success.

So, before the New Year arrives, here are your 2017 success goals…

1) Customise your campaign page

We’ve set this as your first goal because it’s extremely important for conversion rates and super simple to fix.

Your campaign page is the final stop before a customer presses on that ‘BUY NOW’ button for your custom products. To optimise your campaign page you need a:

  • Clear Title
  • Memorable URL - so people can easily share with friends
  • Short Description - so customers know what they’re buying
  • Strong Cover Product - to make your product stand out
  • Section with Additional information - for images, video or anything else

Once you’ve mastered the art of your campaign page, you’ll notice your conversion rates increasing as people understand exactly what they’re getting. If you need any extra information about this, we have a guide here.

2) Take your designs to the next level

You have great designs, but it’s time to take things to the next level. You’re products that need to be printed, so you need to be sure that your designs are the best. Strive for perfection.

Take control of your:

  • Typography
  • Image balance
  • Colour
  • Negative space

Having designs that are ideal for print means customers want to buy them and they’re happy once the product is delivered. That means you’ll be able to show off all those happy customers to other consumers who show interest in your designs.

We have a quick guide to help you with enhancing your designs so you can be ready tackle the next objective as quickly as possible.

3) Start selling phone cases

Phone cases are a huge industry and with mobile usage on the rise it’s time to get involved, before it’s too late. These days, everyone has a smartphone and since they’re so expensive, investing in a protective case is a necessity.

Try creating a few phone case specific designs. Your profit margins will be huge as most cases sell for around €20-25 and the base cost is only €4.99. If you want to learn more about starting a phone case business, just click here.

4) Marketing for mobile

Speaking of mobile, you should definitely be marketing for people on mobile devices. People are using mobile for window shopping (guess it’s more ‘screen shopping’ now). Desktops are becoming less important for online shopping as people are always on the move.

Mobile ad examples

The rise of mobile is on our 2017 Trends to look out for because of just how important they’re becoming for eCommerce. Start creating ads designed specifically for mobile users and be a step ahead of the competition.

5) Facebook ad copy that converts

While you’re setting up those adverts, you should also tick this goal off your list. Your adverts have to grab people’s attention in seconds. So your copy has to be:

  • Direct - Speaking to the reader
  • Short - Quick and easy to read
  • Inspired - Find what works best

People lead busy lives and they’re constantly scrolling through their news feed looking for something interesting. If you ads can stop someone scrolling, then you’ll be getting clicks. Start with the copy tricks on this article, then add in some of your own style to see what works.

6) Learn how to use a Call-to-Action

Learning about CTAs is a great way to boost your conversion rates, so you should definitely have this in your 2017 goals. A call-to-action leads people to take the action that you want them to.

If you’re using the Clicks-to-Website ad objective, then you should use a call that encourages people to click on your ad. Using something like ‘Click to learn more’ will direct people to your campaign page.

If may take a little while to set up the perfect call-to-action but if you want to speed up that process, you can check out the ultimate guide to CTAs by clicking here.

7) Setup and use the Facebook Pixel

Knowing how to use the Facebook Pixel will always be a marketing goal for sellers. With the Pixel, you can collect data on who takes which actions on your campaign page. Including:

  • How many visits you get, and from where
  • Who clicks on what buttons (and who abandons their cart)
  • Which people go through with a purchase

With this information you can create Facebook audiences to target with your adverts. This is only scratching the surface, it would take multiple articles to explain all the ways this will help you. Luckily we have all of those articles on our blog and you can read them by clicking here.

8) Keep your customers coming back

Following the Facebook Pixel, your goal should be re-targeting. You can start sending out adverts to the audiences you gain from the Pixel. This comes in two forms:

  1. People who showed interest but didn’t buy
  2. Those who bought from you already

Once you have audience information from your Pixel, you’ll be able to target these two groups with unique Facebook Ads. They’ve already shown interest in your designs before, so you should start sending out adverts designed to bring them back to your campaign page.

9) Master your Ad Spend

These final two goals for 2017 are about refining your adverts. When you’ve started getting some good results from your Facebook ads, you’ll be able to start optimising your ad spend.

If you’re getting a high click-through-rate to your campaign then it might be worth increasing your budget. Conversely, if your ads aren’t doing too well then you might want to go back to the drawing board.

10) Test, Test and Test again

This should be your last goal for 2017 and it’s one that you should keep on doing. The other goals on this checklist will boost your conversion and click-through rates. However once you’ve completed those steps, testing is how to push yourself even further ahead.

You can learn which campaigns are winners by reading the metrics from your adverts so you should be A/B testing to figure out how to get the most from each ad-set.

We want you to go into 2017 ready for success, and with this checklist in-hand you can do just that. Tick off each of these goals as you achieve them:
